Future Smart Phones and Mobile Computing Devices
The following are some Ideas and possibilities for Future Smart Phones, and Future Computing Devices. Some Ideas are well known. Others may be new and unexplored. These Ideas are based on the premise that in about 5 years time, 3D layered chips and photonics will be available on the market.
1) Many Apps making use of artificial neural networks ( ANN ).
Off-Line, single and multi-user apps and web apps.
2) Local and Internet Networked / Cloud / Swarm / Crowd / MOb Processing.
Where one node starts the application and others join and add their
processing power.
Especially useful in artificial neural networks apps.
Wireless mostly but perhaps wired also.
3) Hardware Neural Network Chips.
( Built-in & add-on ).
Hardware neural network chips are said to be 1 000 times faster than emulating neurons with a digital computer.
The radical increase in processing capabilities, necessitates hardware ANN chips to be used in smart phones and future notebooks.
This is also an analogue rather than digital technology because it directly emulates biological neurons.
4) Different types of Artificial Neural Network Chips.
Different Algorithms emulated in silicon hardware chips.
( Hopfield, Kohonen, HTM, Etc. )
5) Hardware link-able ANN chips linked to each other or linked to a hub on .
6) Hot-swappable artificial neural network chips.
7) Fibre optic cables used for local peripheral and network connections.
Essentially this will be USB cables on steroids.
These are only a few possibilities.
Be sure to join us next time as we explore technologies relating to artificial neural networks, future smart phones and future personal computing devices.

New Super- and Disruptive Computing Technology on the Horizon
There are new and super powerful computing technology being researched at IBM and other companies that could speed up our computers 100 - 1 000 times.
Watch these short video clips to understand what they are:
These new technologies seems totally anti-Moore's Law which states that computing technology doubles every 18 months or so. Or perhaps Moore's Law only applies to the shrinking of transistors on the CPU chip and not packaging of the CPU cores on the chip?
Perhaps later both technologies can be combined and make again new computing technology that is again a 1 000 times faster than that generation of computers.
What is good about this new CPU technology is that it is still 100% digital technology and not quantum computing technology which is said to be extremely hard to program and operate.
Join me again as we explore and generate Ideas for these technologies.

Reverse Engineering the Brain - Numenta and HTM Technology
The following Youtube videos are a great introduction to how our brains work and the progress that have been made in reverse engineering our brains.

It is about a scientist, Jeff Hawkins and his company Numenta, who have
discovered and developed HTM: Hierarchical Temporal Memory technology. Basically it is a specific type of artificial neural network that models the neurons and other structures of our biological brains.
HTM technology is the most advanced and accurate description to date that can replicate how we humans process, store, learn and recall information.
There are a lot of revelations and insight to how our brains work, how complex yet extremely simple our brains are and what type of applications the technology can be used for. One application the technology is used for is pattern recognition. An example is computer vision applications eg: Tracking moving objects, like cars, in a scene.
This is a really great introduction to HTM technology so watch the videos when you can.
I am not entirely certain of this but I think IBM Watson supercomputer
is based on this technology.
Numenta has also released a free software toolkit and computer vision application which can be trained to recognize certain patterns eg: a car, a chair, a person, etc. in an image or video.
For more on HTM visit Numenta's website: www.numenta.com

Our Future Level of Cognition
A good visualization for how fast and powerful our future brains will be is to compare our ancient information recording technologies with our modern information recording technologies.
That is stone slabs or cave walls or tablets with the laptop computers and the internet of today.
1) The Labour intensive parts are in both the recording of information as well as in the creation of the information recoding device. ( Which is supplied, in limited numbers by nature).
2) Information can only be shared with people in the immediate area of the information recorded Object.
3) The availability of the information recoding device is highly limited to the number of suitable physical stones or even cave walls found in nature.
4) Quality of information ( letters and number characters) is not the same each time it is duplicated.
5) Quantity or duplication of the information is also extreemly slow and labourious.
6) Only a few types of information can be shared.
Static Text.
Static Visual ( Images ).
7) Device is usually stationary ( highly immobile).
Laptop computers & internet:
1) Labour intensive part is in the manufacturing of the information device only,
not in the creation of each piece of info, which is extremely easy.
2) Information can be shared instantly with, theoretically any person with a computer and internet connection.
( Blogger, Facebook, Etc ).
3) The availability of the information recoding device ( laptop computers) is in a much higher supply than stone tablets are in nature.
Also, ( eg: Word document pages ) is nearly unlimited ( only limited to the storage capacity of your hard drive ).
4) Quality of information ( letters and number characters ) is exactly the same each time it is duplicated.
5) Quantity of the information is many times faster and energy efficient ( eg: typing ).
6) Many more types of information can be shared.
Static Text.
Dynamic Text ( Blog, Rss Feeds, Twitter updates, etc ).
Static Visual ( Images ),
Dynamic Visual ( Videos, Live Tv ),
Auditory ( mp3 ),
Design Files ( 3D models ),
3D Virtual Worlds,
Etc.
7) Device highly mobile.
There are a lot more factors that we can list but it clear that our modern technologies for recording and sharing information
are vastly more powerful and desirable than those of the past.
Of course, our current technologies,
are definitively not without fault or imperfection.
But who would trade in a laptop and the internet for a stone tablet and a chisel?
There are certainly instances where the stone tablet and chisel is more suitable for specific types of information recording, but in the majority of cases, the laptop is more desirable.
Our thoughts will become extremely automated.
One may think that this automation or streamlining of thoughts will cripple us or deprive us of
creative thinking but exactly the opposite is true.
We will be able to create and process a vast amount more of information in our brain than what we are even capable of visualizing at the moment.
With our basic biological brains, things that take a huge amount of processing, takes a huge amount of processing each time.
However, with our future brains, because of the streamlined design of our future brains, we will be able to "save or store"
previously constructed thoughts and simply continue where we stopped the last time.
We will also be able to create and perceive vastly new types of thoughts and emotions which we are not currently able to do.
The future of our level of cognition is certainly looking bright.
That's all for now guys.
Have a good day.

Magnetic Electric Generator Update 3
Greetings
I would like to apologize to all readers for not posting about my ideas on an electric magnetic generator as promised.
I won't be uploading any 3D renders any time soon.
However, I still believe that it is an alternative technology worth investigating.

Stars Above You
Here is some inspirational music. The artists are Locnville. They are Andrew and Brian Chaplin, two identical twin brothers from my country, South Africa. They are doing us proud with their great music and music videos. I believe that they are decendants of the famous English actor, Charlie Chaplin.
Their music video Stars Above You can be viewed on youtube:

Watch the music video. It features some nice beats and visuals. Very modern sound as well.
My blog is written to inspire and generate ideas for new technologies and prepare us for future developments. Music is one of the primary means of inspiration.
Cheers and keep well.
